EVMS - it is a good idea!
EARNED VALUE - Early Warning tool enabling managers to identify and control problems before they become insurmountable.
EARNED VALUE - Enhancement over traditional management methods. Older methods addressed planned versus actual expenditures. Earned Value goes a step further and focuses on ACCOMPLISHMENT against the plan and actual cost against the budget for the accomplished work.
ACCOMPLISHMENT - Affords managers insight into potential RISK areas and provides improved basis for forecast completion dates and estimated costs at completion.
DISCIPLINED PLANNING - A Major EVMS benefit: Define the work and organization; schedule the work; identify technical, schedule, and cost risk areas for early formulation of an integrated baseline.
RISK MITIGATION- Clearer picture of technical, schedule, and cost progress provides for better and more timely corrective actions.
ANALYSES TOOLS - For over 750 contracts, analyses of EVMS data provided reliable predictions of completion time and costs allowing timely corrective actions to be taken.
STATISTICAL PROJECTIONS - Several estimating algorithms proven effective.
INCLUDED WITH REGISTRATION “Project Management Using Earned Value” textbook by Humphreys & Associates - a $125.00 value is also included for all attendees! This book establishes the definitive resource in the field. No other resource addresses all aspects of Earned Value Project Management in this manner, or to this degree.
